Halloween | 2019

When it came time to plan Cam's Halloween outfit, I picked out a really cute dinosaur outfit. He loves dinosaurs so I thought it would be the perfect outfit. I was WRONG! He hated that costume with a passion. If I even brought it near him, he would take off running and hyperventilating. We decided it may be best to put him in regular clothes for Halloween so we decided to do a train conductor and he was the cutest train conductor I've ever seen.

We did something new this year and went down to my parents beach house the weekend before Halloween. Their park does a big Halloween trick-or-treating from 4-6 and the entire park participates. I was amazed at how many houses decorated and joined in on the fun. We only made it down one full row and we had an entire bucket full of candy. Camden loved it but was not a fan of people in full costume. His favorite part of the night was playing in the dirt for a full hour. He is ALL BOY! We capped off the night with a cookout with friends and family at the beach.

Sunday we came back home and attended our Church trunk-or-treat. Cam loved the rubber ducks and cake walk the most. He didn't really participate in the trunk-or-treat because he was ill and it was HOT! Friends from out of town stopped by and we ended up chilling in the air condition/nursery so Cam could play with Amelia.

On Halloween night, we went over to the Hutchens house for pizza and trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. It was a fun night and we actually only visited a few houses before calling it an early night. It was the perfect Halloween and I'm sure thankful I got the pictures at the beach because I only took 1 picture on Halloween night and it was blurry.

First Beach Weekend of 2019

We took Camden to the beach two weeks ago and it was the first beach trip of the new year for us. The last time Camden was there he was only 5 months old so a lot has changed since then. Mom had already baby-proofed the house as best she could but it was definitely a "stay-on-the-porch" type weekend. Craw was on a hiking trip so mom and I ventured down with Camden on Friday morning after my doctors appointment. It was a gorgeous day and it was so fun watching Camden's eyes light up when we took him on the golf cart.

Once we got unpacked, we took Camden over to the playground. It was so funny watching him try to figure out sand for the first time. He stood still as a statue when I first put him down and I don't think he liked it too much at first.  He eventually got used to it and he loved the playground. Later that afternoon, we took him to the beach. He acted a little scared at first but he eventually warmed up to his surroundings and he loved watching the seagulls in the water. He did get knocked down by a little wave and he did not like that but the water was also freezing. I can't wait to take him back this summer.

Saturday it rained all day long. Literally, ALL DAY LONG! It was tough trying to entertain a 15 month old in a small little park model home. I was worried about Camden napping and sleeping well at night since he would be in the pack-n-play but he did great all weekend. Sunday we packed up and ventured home. We can't wait to go back next time with daddy.

Craw had fun hiking through torrential downpours.

Camden Ivey | First Beach Experience

Finally getting around to blogging about Camden's first beach experience last weekend. We took a trip to the beach about 2 months ago but did not see the ocean because it was too cold. Taking our boy to see the ocean for the first time has been a dream of mine since the day we got him. I knew I wanted him to see it with both Craw and I present the first time so we made it happen.

We both got off work at 12 on Friday so we were at the beach by 4:00. It was so nice to beat the rush and get to enjoy dinner in Emerald Isle. We decided to eat at a sports bar and enjoyed wings and burgers for dinner. Camden did so great at the restaurant. I know there will probably come a day when meals will be stressful but he is such a happy baby so he loves to sit and stare. We ended the night with a golf cart ride. Hank was in heaven (his fave thing to do) and Camden enjoyed taking in all the sights.

Saturday morning was a lazy morning. We watched the royal wedding and just enjoyed not having a single thing to do. We weren't sure about the weather so we decided to go ahead and head to the beach. First mom fail was me not trying on his bathing suit before we left. WAY TOO BIG! Luckily it was too cold for him to get in the water. Camden was MESMORIZED by the sand. I thought he would be interested in the ocean because of the sounds but the ocean didn't even phase him. However, he was fixated on the sand. It was so cute! We spent about 30 minutes on the beach because it was high tide and overcast and we didn't want him to get any sun.

We will be back down for an extended stay in a few weeks and I have a beach tent that we can put up. I can't wait to take him back as I know he is going to love it just as much as I do. The rest of the day we relaxed at the house. It was so nice to just be together as a family with no distractions. We decided to go to Swansboro for dinner and eat at the Icehouse. Craw and I split steak/shrimp and it was delicious. We ended the night with a ride to Jacksonville to get Krispy Kreme.

Sunday morning we woke up and ate breakfast before packing up to head home. We wanted to get home early enough to tackle some cleaning before the work week started. We had the absolute best weekend and I cant wait to go back soon.

Beach naps are the best naps!
