NC Zoo Weekend

I've been dreaming of taking Camden to the zoo all year. I knew I wanted to wait until the weather cooled off some and we had the the absolute PERFECT day in September. It was sunny and mid 70s all day and my parents and sister joined us for the fun family outing. We took Friday off so it wasn't crowded at all.

Cam LOVES animals. This summer, he learned most animal names and the sounds they make. It has been so fun listening to him say nay, moo, meow, woof, roar, and my personal favorites...sticking his tongue out over and over for the lizard sound and pretending to have an elephant trunk that sprays water. It's the cutest thing and I knew he would enjoy going to the zoo.

I decided to set my expectations low for the day since I wasn't sure how he would do in the stroller. He surprisingly did great but he definitely loved being able to get out and walk. We bought him a backpack harness and that helped with letting him have freedom but keeping him close to us. He got tired after lunch and took about an hour nap in the stroller which was perfect.

His absolute favorite exhibit was the polar bear. He stood there for a long time mesmerized by the polar bear swimming and flipping in the water. Sadly the giraffe and zebra exhibit was closed so we did not get to see them but there is always next time. We let him ride the carousel and he wasn't a fan. It truly was the perfect day with family.

Saturday morning Craw took Cam to Louisburg to see his family and also see the horses. I love seeing Cam's reaction to the horses and I sure wish GG was here to know him. We ended the day with a date night to the NC State football game. It was the best weekend with my sweet little fam.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a blast at the beach for Memorial Day Weekend. Camden is at such a fun age and things really are getting a little easier when it comes to travelling with a toddler. Camden actually left on Friday with my mom and she said he slept the entire ride. It also allowed Craw and I to have a date night that Friday night. Craw had been gone all week so it was nice spending alone time with him.

We woke up Saturday morning bright and early and arrived at the beach around 10. Cam was so excited to see us but was really excited to see Craw. We immediately went on a golf cart ride and I got a real treat when Cam fell asleep in my arms. That NEVER happens anymore. Mom bought Cam a water table for the deck and Cam would stick his entire head in to the water. It was quite funny.

Saturday was spent resting and swimming. Craw went and rode jet skis with our friends from church and I took a nap with Camden. Later in the day, we took Cam to the pool for the first time this season and he LOVED it. He is definitely a fish in the water. In fact, we are going to have our hands full making sure he is safe because he will run straight for the water when we are not looking. I told Craw that he will always need to go to the pool with his puddle jumper already on because that boy is fast.

Sunday morning we woke up and enjoyed a leisurely morning. We went and bought Cam a boating life jacket and then took him on his first boat ride of the season. We boated over to an island and Cam was LOVING the water. The salt water didn't even phase him. I was able to ride jet skis and it was such a fun day. That night, we grilled out with friends/neighbors and enjoyed a relaxing evening.

Monday morning we packed up and headed home. Cam slept the entire car ride again so that was a WIN. I love my little family and these extended weekends at the beach are so much fun. I'm already counting down the days until we can do it again.

Whirligig Weekend

We had a fun filled weekend at the Whirligig Festival. Camden was a little shell shocked to begin with and I think it was because of all the people. He has also been clingy lately so that probably didn't help. His little eyes were trying to take in everything. We were able to take Camden with us to vote and that was fun. I put the "I voted" sticker on him and 10 seconds later it was in his mouth.

We didn't really have an agenda for the festival so it was nice just walking around and observing everything. Camden got to see his daddy's office and loved going for a spin in his daddy's chair. He also ate some fried oreos and corn dog and he seemed to really like it. After the Whirligig Festival, we went home and took a 2 hour family nap. It was the best thing EVER.

Sunday was a low key day trying to adjust to the time change. Camden decided to wake up at 4:30 and then 5:30 so it was an early morning for daddy. Sunday night we had dinner with Jenna before she leaves for Chad. We miss her so much but are so glad to see her when she's home visiting.

It was a really nice weekend with the family and I'm so excited to get out of town this coming weekend with just Craw.
